Hervé Bizeul, the owner of Clos des Fées, developed a passion for wine while working as a sommelier in restaurants, and wine writer. As he wanted to unveil what was lying behind the bottle, he challenged himself in production in 1998. The first vintage was the result of hard work and a lot of help of friends, making wine in a garage. Eventually he bought his own estate with 20 hectares of vineyards, mainly Syrah, Mourvedre and Carignan, typical of Roussillon region, quickly raising his status as one of the most interesting wineries in Roussillon.
